October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month! For more than 20 years the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) have spotlighted the importance of taking daily action to reduce risks when online and using connected devices. This year, CISA focus on the government entities and small and medium businesses that are vital to protecting the systems and services that sustain us every day and make America a great place to live and do business: the nation’s critical infrastructure. Much of the nation’s critical infrastructure is owned and operated by state, local, tribal, and territorial governments as well as private companies. Additionally, vendors, suppliers, and other parts of the supply chain that support or are connected to critical infrastructure play a critical cybersecurity role.
At The Curtwill Group, we believe cybersecurity is more than a technical challenge—it’s a strategic imperative.
This year’s theme, “Building a Cyber Strong America,” aligns with our mission to help public sector and community organizations strengthen digital resilience. Here are 4 key actions we champion:
1. Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) – A simple step that blocks over
99% of automated attacks
2. Use Strong Passwords & a Password Manager – Protect your data with smarter
Credentials
3. Recognize & Report Phishing – Stay alert to suspicious emails, texts, and links
4. Update Software Promptly – Patching vulnerabilities is your first line of defense
We’re proud to support government modernization, privacy program management, and cybersecurity compliance across federal, defense, and local agencies. Let’s build smarter defenses—together.
